Statement to Our Community

Dear Surfside Neighbors,
I want to address the recent lawsuit and claims surrounding it with clarity
and respect for our community.
First, lets be clear: Mr. Danzinger has filed a lawsuit against the Town. His attempt to portray it as anything other than a lawsuit is misleading. An “injunction” is simply the type of relief being requested. In asking for an injunction, he has chosen to take the Town, and its residents to court.
Some of the language in the complaint suggests bias or hostility where none exists and frames a procedural issue as a community-wide attack. This type of approach sows distrust rather than bringing people together. As someone who has served this Town for years, I believe leadership should unite residents, not divide them through litigation.
It is important to note that the Town does not control the election schedule. The date is set by our Charter, and the election is administered by the Miami-Dade Supervisor of Election. When I was asked to join the injunction, I was still serving as Vice Mayor. I did not believe it was appropriate to join a lawsuit against the Town I was elected to represent, especially when the Town cannot grant the requested change.
Rather than litigation, I believe in practical solutions that protect every resident’s right to vote. One constructive path forward would be to keep the April 7 election date while adding an additional voting day on April 14. This approach ensures that no one is disenfranchised and expands access fairly for all voters.
Surfside has always been a welcoming and respectful community. Today, it is home
to a vibrant Orthodox population alongside residents of many backgrounds, all contributing to the Town’s strength. I am dedicated to leading with fairness, collaboration, and results, protecting the Town from division and focusing on solutions that serve everyone.
Surfside deserves leadership that puts community first, fosters unity, and works for practical solutions instead of lawsuits. I will continue to lead in that way.
Respectfully yours,
