Dear Friends and Neighbors,

In one month, a new Commission will be sworn in. I hope to stand with them as your next Mayor.

Over the past ten years, I have had the honor of serving eight years on the Surfside Commission, two terms with Mayor Daniel Dietch and two terms with Mayor Charles Burkett. During those years, we focused on fiscal responsibility, public safety, infrastructure, and protecting the character of our Town. Together, we strengthened financial reserves, maintained balanced budgets, and invested in parks, drainage improvements, and critical public safety needs.

With Mayor Dietch, we prioritized environmental protections, traffic mitigation, and long-term capital planning. With Mayor Burkett, we guided Surfside through the COVID-19 pandemic, advanced the long-awaited Abbott Avenue drainage project, completed the Point Lake water main, and moved forward with the 96th Street Park renovation.

The collapse of Champlain Towers South was a heartbreaking and defining moment for our community. We stood with families and first responders and dedicated 88th Street east of Collins Avenue for a future memorial park, which is now in progress. I am especially proud of my work on Ordinance 22-1720, which strengthened construction site safety standards to better protect neighboring properties during demolition and new development. Protecting residents must always come first.

I was not in office during the 2022–2024 term. During that period, the Town experienced significant administrative turnover and approved major development projects that have impacted our roadways and neighborhood character. In 2024, you elected me back as Vice Mayor to help restore stability and refocus our community priorities. We restarted stalled projects, addressed internal challenges head-on, and began restoring trust in Town Hall.

Surfside operates under a Commission-Manager form of government. Leadership at the Commission level sets the tone, establishes priorities, and ensures accountability. Experience and steady judgment matter.

This election is about the future of Surfside. It is about proven leadership, respect for residents, fiscal discipline, and the willingness to stand firm when necessary. We can continue on a path of stability and responsible governance or risk returning to uncertainty and disruption.

It has been the honor of my life to serve this Town for eight of the past ten years. I respectfully ask for your vote so we can continue protecting what makes Surfside special and continue moving forward together with stability and responsible leadership.

I look forward to meeting you during the campaign, hearing your thoughts, and continuing our work for the community we all love.

With gratitude and dedication,

Tina Paul

Vice Mayor, Town of Surfside
